Mobixoft LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Bug Bite Identifier mobile app (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Medical note. The App provides educational identification only — it is not a medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency service. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
1. Information We Collect
- Photos you provide. When you scan a bite or sting, you capture one or more photos (or choose them from your photo library). These are sent for processing and saved to your scan history (see §2).
- Anonymous account identifier. On first launch we create an anonymous account (Firebase Anonymous Authentication). We do not ask for your name, email, or password. Your scans are stored under this anonymous ID.
- Scan results. The educational result for each scan is stored with your history so you can review it later.
- Approximate location (optional). If you grant permission, coarse location is used to weight regionally plausible species. You can decline; the App still works.
- Subscription & purchase status. Managed via Apple and RevenueCat (we receive purchase/entitlement status, not your full payment details).
- Crash & diagnostics. Crash reports and error diagnostics via Sentry to keep the App reliable.
- Tracking (only with your consent). If you allow tracking via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, limited analytics/attribution may be used. You can decline, and the App works the same.
We do not knowingly collect your name, contacts, or health records, and we do not sell your personal data.
2. How We Use & Store Photos (AI Processing + History)
Your photo is transmitted securely to our processing service and then to Google’s Gemini API to produce an educational identification.
- Storage. Your photos and results are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Storage and Firestore) under your anonymous account ID, so they appear in your Scan History across sessions. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Retention. Data is kept until you delete it. You can delete an individual scan (swipe to delete in History) or all of your data (Settings → “Delete all my data”) at any time; deletion removes both the photos and the results from our servers.
- We do not use your photos to advertise to you, and we do not use them to train AI models.
- Google processes the image under its API terms; where available, we instruct that data not be used to train Google’s models.
3. How We Use Other Information
To provide and improve the App, process subscriptions, ensure security, fix bugs, and comply with law.
4. Third-Party Services
- Google Gemini API — image identification processing.
- Google Firebase — anonymous authentication and storage of your scans and results.
- RevenueCat — subscription/entitlement management.
- Apple — App Store and in-app purchases.
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics.
Each provider has its own privacy policy.
5. Your Rights & Choices
- Delete in-app: delete a single scan (swipe in History) or all your data (Settings → “Delete all my data”) — this permanently removes your photos and results from our servers.
- Location / Camera / Photos / Tracking: manage permissions in iOS Settings.
- Access or deletion by request: email devmobixoft+bugbiteid@gmail.com.
- GDPR (EEA/UK): legal bases are consent (photos/location/tracking) and legitimate interest (security/diagnostics); you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.
- CCPA (California): we do not sell or share personal information; you have rights to know and delete.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit and at rest, access controls). No method is 100% secure.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 17 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child provided data, contact us for deletion.
8. International Transfers
Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy; material changes will be notified in-app or via the App Store listing.
